Having joined Imesa in January 2023 as a receptionist, today Carolina Moretti is in charge of Recruiting & Training, contributing to the growth of people and the development of the company’s human capital. A path built step by step, thanks to curiosity, the desire to get involved and the opportunities offered by a company that invests in people.
We retraced the key stages of her professional growth.
Michela: Hi Carolina, you joined Imesa as a receptionist. Can you tell us about your first days at the company and your main responsibilities?
Carolina: I joined Imesa in January 2023 after working in the hotel industry. It was a significant change, as I found myself in a completely new environment, with different dynamics and processes from those I was used to.
The first few days were very stimulating: in my role as receptionist, I was responsible for managing phone calls, welcoming customers, suppliers, and visitors, and organizing travel for service staff. I was the first point of contact of the company, and I immediately understood the importance of ensuring a warm welcome and creating a positive experience for everyone joining Imesa.
At the same time, I began collaborating with Gloria Concettoni in managing mandatory training. When Gloria moved to the service department, I was entrusted with this task, and I began independently managing the organization and monitoring of mandatory training courses. It was the first step in a growth path that allowed me to acquire new skills and gradually become more familiar with the world of human resources.
Michela: Was there a moment when you realized that your path at Imesa could evolve into new responsibilities?
Carolina: I believe the turning point came at the end of 2024, when I was offered the opportunity to move into recruiting. I have to admit that I was initially surprised: I didn’t have a specific background in this field, and my first reaction was to wonder whether I would be able to meet such an important challenge.
At the same time, however, I felt the trust the company was placing in me, and that gave me the motivation to step out of my comfort zone. From the very beginning, I could count on the company’s support, which made a tangible investment in my development by pairing me with Sara Fabiani, initially an external consultant for Imesa, who guided me step by step in acquiring new skills.
I also attended specialized training courses with Gility, which enabled me to deepen my knowledge of the tools, methodologies, and dynamics related to talent acquisition.
Then, 2025 marked a further evolution in this growth path, with Sara joining the company as People Manager directly, and with her I had the opportunity to consolidate my new role and actively contribute to people development.
Michela: In recruiting, you meet many people who are looking for a job and applying to join Imesa. Beyond technical skills, what do you look for during an interview?
Carolina: Technical skills are certainly a key element, but they’re only part of the evaluation.
During an interview, I try to go beyond the resume to understand the person as a whole: I’m interested in understanding their values, how they describe themselves, what experiences have shaped them, and what their strengths are. I pay close attention to soft skills, because I believe that characteristics such as the ability to work in a team, curiosity, flexibility, a desire to learn, and an aptitude for discussion can truly make a difference in the long run.
Another important aspect is assessing how a person might fit into a specific team. Each department has its own dynamics and characteristics, so it’s crucial to identify candidates who, in addition to possessing the required skills, can integrate harmoniously into the context in which they will work. Once the selection process is complete, I like to meet with managers to gather feedback on the onboarding process. This is a valuable opportunity, allowing me to understand whether the insights I learned during the interview have been confirmed over time.
Michela: How important is continuous training in a company like Imesa, and how is it perceived by employees?
Carolina: Continuous learning is one of the key drivers of Imesa’s growth and represents a strategic investment in the company’s future. In a constantly evolving industry like ours, updating both technical and transversal skills is essential to address market challenges, foster innovation, and support people’s development.
What I appreciate most is that training is not seen as an additional task but as a concrete lever for both professional and personal growth. Imesa invests significantly in its people, and this commitment is positively perceived by employees, who recognize the value of the opportunities provided.
In 2025, approximately 4,000 hours of training were delivered, a figure that clearly demonstrates the company’s commitment to skills development and the enhancement of human capital. Of course, there is always room for improvement. Our goal is to make training programs increasingly strategic and accessible by planning them effectively and balancing them with the workloads of different departments.
We want to continue involving the entire workforce more extensively, including production departments, so that everyone can feel like an active part of a shared growth journey.
Michela: Carolina, those who know you at the company know that empathy is one of your defining characteristics. During your growth journey, your interaction with Marco Achilli, our CEO, also helped you recognize and leverage this talent, directing it toward a role where you can make a difference for both people and the company. Is there an episode or interview you remember with particular satisfaction?
Carolina: Yes, there are several moments I cherish, but one in particular made me realize how important listening and empathy can be in my work. During an interview, I met a very shy and reserved candidate who struggled to talk about himself and express his skills. At first, he seemed almost incapable of highlighting his potential. I tried to create a climate of trust, putting him at ease and giving him the time he needed to express himself. Through listening and asking some targeted questions, I was able to bring out aspects of his personality and skills that weren’t initially apparent.
That candidate was later hired by the company and proved to be a valuable asset to the team.
Experiences like this confirm to me every day how important it is to look beyond the resume and first impressions. I believe that every person has potential to express, and that our job in recruiting is also to create the conditions for that potential to emerge. Knowing that I have helped bring out someone’s talent and lead them towards a professional opportunity is one of the greatest satisfactions of my job.
Michela: If you could go back to the first day you walked through the doors of Imesa as a receptionist, what would you say to the Carolina of that time?
Carolina: I would tell her to stay curious and not be afraid to take risks, even when the path seems to lead you to something completely new.
I would tell her to trust her own abilities and to cultivate the sensitivity and empathy that, initially, I considered simply characteristics of my personality and that today represent a fundamental part of my work.
My journey demonstrates that when a company chooses to invest in people and people choose to believe in themselves, unexpected opportunities and truly significant growth paths can arise.
Michela: Thanks Carolina!
