Michela: Hi Paolo, yours is a great example of professional growth, you have been in our company for 37 years. Would you like to tell us about your debut and how your career path has been?
Paolo: Yes, very willingly! I was hired in 1987 as an electrical designer, there were 5 of us at the time in the technical office. Even then, a lot of investment was made in young people, they immediately made me attend a course in Bologna to learn how to use a “work station”. I remember that it was an absolute novelty, so much so that Sergio Schiavoni, when he brought prominent personalities and clients to visit Imesa I was asken to show these work stations.
After 15 years, from electrical design, I moved on to the role of PM, initially only as a technician but then progressively interacting with the commercial side as well. The role of the PM is to guide the project team towards the objective that the client intends to pursue, ensuring compliance with costs, times and quality of the project.
After another 10 years I was promoted to PM Manager, a new challenge for me I accepted with great gratitude and that strengthened my feeling of gratitude towards the company. I can say that I feel valued as a person and I am very proud of this!
Michela: Marco Achilli’s arrival marked a turning point in a certain sense. He introduced welfare and is very careful to put people first. He introduced ESG issues and among the company objectives to be pursued, he particularly cares about employee satisfaction. What do you think?
Paolo: I can only be grateful to the entire Schiavoni family, but especially to Marco who gave me this new opportunity for my career. Today I feel listened to, I really appreciate the importance that Marco gives to internal communication, sharing the company objectives makes the path to take much more stimulating. Welfare, even if contractual, is a concrete help for families and I really appreciate the willingness to better reconcile work and family with flexible hours and smart working.
Michela: Do you feel the responsibility of your new role?
Paolo: Absolutely, managing people is not always easy so I feel I am learning but I believe a lot in teamwork. I have been a volleyball coach for 19 years, both male and female, so my goal is to create a good group and pass on my enthusiasm to them to face new challenges together!
Michela: Does it all seem nice and easy?
Paolo: No, it never is but I am ambitious, in the sense of aiming for action! I am often at the production department, and I have the feeling that the workers often feel left out.
We must recognize their merit, their work is fundamental and in my opinion Marco has understood this and I feel confident we are all working to make them feel an integral part of the same project!
Michela: Thank you Paolo for your enthusiasm and we all hope you continue to grow!
