A key figure in warehouse management, Mauro has guided Imesa’s evolution with consistency and professionalism, contributing to process efficiency and organizational growth.
“At Imesa, I found trust and responsibility: two things that make you always give your all.”
Michela: Mauro, can you tell us how you arrived at Imesa?
Mauro:I joined Imesa in February 1997, when the company was still located on Via Cappannini. I came from another background, and although I was a dental technician by training, I had chosen to change direction. I started out in packaging and material delivery, then gradually grew, taking on new responsibilities: from entering delivery notes and orders for the warehouse, to checking incoming orders, until I became independent in the day-to-day management of the warehouse itself.
Michela: What was the warehouse like at the beginning and how has it evolved over time?
Mauro: Mauro: At first, it was really complicated: the warehouse was spread across several locations throughout the workshop, and managing it wasn’t easy. A key moment came in 2016, when General Manager Abramucci and Alessandro Franciolini, the warehouse manager at the time, entrusted me with managing a large order for Petrofac: 50 crates destined for export. I remember the panic on the first day well, but I rolled up my sleeves and, with the help of the team, we managed to meet all the deadlines. We delivered the paintings in perfect condition, complete with all the necessary documentation for export. That experience made me understand how essential organization, attention to detail, and collaboration are, and it marked a turning point in the evolution of the warehouse.
Michela: You’ve certainly overcome difficult or significant moments in your career… what challenges have helped you grow professionally and personally at Imesa?
Mauro: Since 2021, I’ve experienced a rather difficult period, lasting several months, but with patience and determination, I managed to overcome it. Then, in May 2023, our CEO Marco Achilli called me back, reassigning me responsibility for the warehouse. I still remember the emotion of that moment: feeling the company’s trust again gave me incredible energy. It was the beginning of a stimulating journey of change, with the idea of a new warehouse and the introduction of the vertical warehouse. Addressing these innovations allowed me not only to grow professionally, but also to make a concrete contribution to making the warehouse more efficient, modern, and ready for future challenges.
Michela: What does this improvement consist of?
Mauro: Today the MRP system automatically generates picking lists: standard materials are always available, withdrawals are recorded automatically and this guarantees greater efficiency. We revised the layout of the workshop, identifying the most suitable area, and at the end of 2024 I was informed of the construction of the new warehouse with the management of pickers. Today I coordinate 9 people and take care of the overall management of the warehouse.
Michela: How do you live this new responsibility?
Mauro: With great pride and even a little emotion. During one of his visits to the workshop, the founder, Sergio Schiavoni, asked me what I did at the company, and for a moment I almost struggled to answer. I’m the warehouse manager, and compared to everything he’s built, my role may seem small. Yet, every day I realize how important it is: every task, even the most seemingly simple, contributes to the success of the entire team. This role has taught me to give my all, not only to fulfill my responsibilities, but also to support my colleagues and ensure the company runs at its best. It’s a great satisfaction to feel part of something bigger, to see how everyone’s commitment intertwines and enables everyone’s growth.
Michela: Mauro, considering all the years you’ve spent at Imesa, what do you appreciate today more than anything else in daily life at the company?
Mauro: After all these years, I think what I appreciate most is the sense of community and the closeness between people. Indeed, all the innovations related to corporate welfare are tangible in everyday life and demonstrate how much the company truly cares about the well-being of people. From health and training initiatives to moments of sharing, such as Family Day last Saturday, October 11, the impact is tangible. It was a truly positive experience: spending time with colleagues and their families, seeing the children having fun, and sharing moments of play and conviviality made us feel even more part of a team, strengthening the sense of community within the company.
Michela: Thank you, Mauro, for sharing your experience with us!
