From Trieste to Rimini, passing through Northern Europe and arriving at Imesa.
Michela: Hi Lorenzo, even if you have been in Imesa for a few months already, still a warm welcome! Can you tell us where you come from and what your path was before arriving here.
Lorenzo: Gladly, I am a nautical graduate with a specialization in machinists and plant management. I have always had a solid technical-practical basis, which I have been able to apply both as a commercial technician on board the ship, and within a technical office where I have gained 4 years of experience in a leading company in the supply of compressed air systems. Before joining Imesa I was Key Account Manager for the naval sector, in particular for shipyards in Northern Europe.
Michela: How did you get in touch with Imesa?
Lorenzo: My entry into Imesa was born from a contact with Michele Golfieri, who already knew me from previous collaborations. We had met during the experience in Spirax Sarco and from there a dialogue began that led me, last October 2024, to become part of this reality. I immediately felt that this was the right company for me: concrete, dynamic, with an eye to the future. Imesa is preparing to face important challenges such as decarbonization, lean production and the development of SF6-free solutions. I really appreciated the fact that we are not limited to the products in the catalog: here you can breathe a strong spirit of innovation, the desire to offer new and customized solutions.
Michela: What exactly do you do today at Imesa?
Lorenzo: My role is Key Account Manager for the Marine Cruise & Navy sector. I deal with the management and development of historical customers, both on the Italian market and internationally, Fincantieri just to name one for example. At the same time, I am looking for new partnership opportunities with the main players in the sector, because I strongly believe in the potential that still needs to be explored in this area.
I recently participated, together with Danilo Carloni, in the Seatrade Cruise Global fair in Miami: a precious opportunity to gather new contacts, consolidate existing relationships and closely observe emerging trends in the marine and cruise sector. An activity in the field that allows me to represent Imesa in a concrete way, seizing new opportunities for commercial development.
Michela: It must have been an intense and inspiring experience. Miami is undoubtedly a privileged observatory for the marine & cruise world
Lorenzo: Definitely yes! Returning home with new ideas, contacts and a lot of energy is a great added value for those who work in sales.
Michela: In light of what you are telling us, can we safely say that the balance to date is more than positive for you?
Lorenzo: These first eight months have been a period of great change. Changing jobs and putting yourself back in the game is never easy, and requires a dose of courage and the ability to evaluate good opportunities. On a professional level, I firmly believe that being here at Imesa was the right choice. I am following stimulating projects, never trivial or repetitive. Every day, together with colleagues, we face challenges that push us to find new solutions. In this initial phase, being at the headquarters is essential to settle in, team up, fully understand business processes and share commercial strategies with the sales director, Michele Golfieri, but I find myself in a context that motivates me every day and this gives me the right charge.
Michela: There has also been a special change in your private life, with the arrival of your second child. First of all, we want to extend our heartfelt congratulations! How are you experiencing this wonderful event and how do you manage to balance the emotions and challenges of this new family chapter with your work?
Lorenzo: Thank you so much Michela and thank you everyone! The arrival of little Sveva is undoubtedly one of the most exciting and significant moments of my life. As every parent knows, experiencing a new birth changes everything, but it is also an incredible gift. To be honest, it is not easy to manage, but I am managing. I live in Rimini, I have two small children – little brother Tommaso is a year and a half – and I try to return home in the evening as much as possible. Fortunately, my role requires a lot of mobility and I have the opportunity to manage my time flexibly, which allows me to better reconcile work commitments with family ones.
Michela: In addition, welfare represents a concrete help, in this sense! What do you think?
Lorenzo: I consider it an added value. For me it is a reconfirmation of what I had already experienced previously and represents an important signal: Imesa is a family business, but it has an approach that has nothing to envy to large multinationals.
Michela: Is there a project in particular that you are passionate about right now?
Lorenzo: Yes, I am following a very ambitious project that involves the creation of a business network with Imesa as the leader. It is a very important and complex supply of low voltage switchboards, which involves all the different departments: production, R&D, purchasing, operations and of course the commercial area. It is a choral work and I want to thank my colleagues of the proposal team for the valuable support they are giving me.
Michela: Thank you Lorenzo. Good luck with your work!
