Michela: Andrea, can you tell us how your professional career began and what were the main stages?
Andrea: I started in 2007, immediately after graduating as a mechanical expert in Jesi, joining the company as a mechanical carpenter through a temporary agency. My first assignment was to assemble the carpentry for medium voltage switchgears for primary distribution. This phase was fundamental for me, because it allowed me to get to know the company’s processes and technologies in depth, laying the foundations for my professional path within Imesa.
Michela: What were the significant experiences that prompted you to want to grow professionally?
Andrea: After several years, in 2016, I had the possibility to move to quality control in acceptance. I was looking for a change that would put me on the line and allow me to learn more and more, so I was very happy to have had this opportunity.
Michela: And how did you come to hold the role of Mechanical Designer?
Andrea: When I heard that a Mechanical Designer was being sought, I didn’t hesitate: I immediately seized this chance. I submitted my application, which was positively evaluated and – to my great satisfaction – accepted. In January 2025 I started a period of support, which allowed me to gradually enter the new role, and since March I have officially been full-time in the team. From the first days, I breathed an atmosphere of strong collaboration. I found great availability and team spirit, especially thanks to the support of Pietro Sigismondi, Head of Engineering, of the Team Leader Andrea Bonci and the harmony with all colleagues.
Feeling welcomed was fundamental. The wealth of experience I gained in previous roles allowed me to get to know the components of MTP carpentry in depth, an aspect that today proves to be valuable in my design work.
Michela: In recent years, the new management has introduced several changes in the company. How did you experience them firsthand?
Andrea: With a lot of enthusiasm, I must say. The arrival of the new CEO Marco Achilli has brought a breath of fresh air, which has been felt above all in the corporate climate: more attention to people, more listening, more opportunities. One of the most significant changes for me has been the promotion of job rotation, which has given those who – like me – want to get involved, the concrete opportunity to do so. It was a strong signal of confidence, which opens up new perspectives and ignites new motivations.
For me it is an extremely positive experience, which is allowing me to grow, both professionally and personally.
Michela: Welfare activities and internal communication played an important role. What is your opinion on this?
Andrea: I really appreciated welfare activities: they improve the quality of working life and strengthen the sense of belonging. Internal communication has also grown a lot: I am thinking, for example, of the quarterly meetings led by Marco Achilli, in which company results and perspectives are shared. Moments like these help you feel part of a common project, making everything clearer, more transparent and motivating.
Michela: Still talking about innovation, how do you see the integration of ESG issues and extra-work activities?
Andrea: ESG initiatives are crucial, because they not only raise the bar for the company, but also strengthen its ability to acquire new jobs. Non-work activities also encourage everyone’s involvement and contribute to creating a more sustainable and dynamic corporate culture.
Michela: During your training, what was the most important challenge you had to face?
Andrea: The biggest challenge was definitely learning CAD, a crucial step for mechanical design work. Then at the training level I participated in the Microsoft Office 365 course, an opportunity open to all collaborators, which helped me to improve the organization of work and the management of technical documentation.
Michela: Looking to the future, where do you see yourself professionally in 10 years?
Andrea: For the moment I feel very motivated and I see myself working in the company in 10 years. It is too early to talk about definitive gratifications, but what matters is the passion and desire to do that drive me every day.
Michela: Finally, what advice would you give to those who aspire to grow professionally in your sector?
Andrea: My advice is simple: apply yourself to the maximum, don’t be afraid to ask and, above all, be proactive. I firmly believe that the desire to do and learn is the key to success in this sector!
Michela: Thank you Andrea, good job!
